Record a visit

Press one button during the consult and Nimo writes up the note for you.

This is the heart of Nimo. While you talk with your patient, Nimo listens, then writes a clean draft of the visit — so you finish the consult with the note nearly done.

How it works

  1. Open the patient's visit and find the Start visit notes button at the bottom of the note editor.
  2. Tap it once. The button turns into a live waveform with a timer, so you can see Nimo is listening.
  3. Have your consultation normally. You don't need to dictate or speak to Nimo — just talk with your patient.
  4. Tap Stop when you're done.

Nimo then takes a moment to prepare your notes. You'll see rotating messages ("Nimo is listening back to the visit…") while it works. When it's ready, a draft summary drops straight into the note editor, and the full transcript is available in a drawer if you want to read it.

What Nimo does behind the scenes

  • Listens efficiently. On most browsers, Nimo skips the silent gaps so only speech is processed — that keeps the cost of each visit tiny without you doing anything.
  • Writes the summary. Nimo turns the conversation into a structured draft you can edit freely. It's a starting point, always under your control.
  • Keeps the recording. The transcript stays attached to the visit so you can refer back.

Good to know

  • Use Chrome for the lowest cost. Nimo's silence-skipping works on Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Android. On Safari and iPhones, recording still works perfectly — it just processes a little more audio. You'll see a gentle hint when that's the case.
  • Allow microphone access the first time. If your browser keeps asking, choose "Allow" and "Remember".
  • Keep the tab in front on a phone. iPhones pause the microphone when you switch away from the tab.
  • Recording needs a secure connection. This always works on Nimo's site; it won't work on an insecure local page.
  • Every visit gets its own short number (like V-0042) the moment it's created. You'll see it on the visit note, the appointment, and the patient's visit history — handy for finding a visit again or referring to it out loud.

If something goes wrong

  • "Nimo couldn't finish your notes" — just tap record again and retry. Your draft note is never lost.
  • Empty or very short transcript — check your microphone is the right one and that you weren't on mute.
