Roles & workspaces

Who can do what in Nimo, and how the app is organised into workspaces.

View as markdown

Nimo gives each person the tools their job needs — and hides the rest, so the app stays calm. Two ideas make this work: roles and workspaces.

Roles

Every team member has one job role:

RoleWhat they do
DoctorWrites notes and prescriptions, orders labs, runs the consult
NurseRecords vitals and procedures
PharmacistManages pharmacy stock and dispensing
Lab technicianHandles lab results and sample collection
Front deskCheck-in, scheduling, and billing
AdminNon-clinical business administration

Separately, one or more people are marked as a practice owner. Owner isn't a job — it's an extra capability layered on top of any role, granting control over billing, the team, and practice settings. A solo doctor is usually a Doctor who is also the Owner.

Owners manage the team from Clinic settings → Team: add a member with a role, and optionally tick "Also a practice owner".

Workspaces

The app is grouped into four workspaces, each with its own colour. Switch between them from the avatar menu (top of the screen):

WorkspaceForWhere
HomeThe day's clinic workDashboard
BooksMoney — bills and revenueBilling
LabsLab resultsLab orders
PharmacyStock and dispensingPharmacy

You only see the workspaces your role uses. Labs and Pharmacy are hidden entirely for practices that don't prescribe (like physiotherapy, psychology, and naturopathy).

Finding your way around

  • The Action Bar (bottom on mobile, side on desktop) holds the current workspace's tasks, plus Me for your personal settings.
  • The avatar menu is the clinic-wide hub: switch workspaces, and reach clinic settings like Practice, Templates, Team, and Billing.

Rule of thumb: personal things live under "Me"; clinic-wide things live in the avatar menu.
